CPEX Co., Ltd. joined the DHOWA TECHNOS Group in January 2015. DHOWA TECHNOS CO., LTD. has a history of trading with enterprises in Chelyabinsk, and has a local subsidiary in Russia. CPEX General Manager Mr. Furukawa and members of the DHOWA TECHNOS Overseas Sales Promotion Department had been pondering how DHOWA TECHNOS sales channels could be used to sell the CPEX Blue Sky coke oven doors to the Russian steel industry. "There are many steel works in Russia, and many of the oven doors that are used in these places are due to be upgraded because of aging. We felt that this was an opportunity to make them aware of the benefits of the CPEX Blue Sky coke oven doors, which have superior gas sealing properties and are environmentally friendly," says Mr. Furukawa.

In September 2016, in extreme temperatures 20° below freezing, CPEX's Mr. Furukawa accompanied a team from DHOWA TECHNOS headed by Mr. Fujita, manager of the Overseas Sales Promotion Department, to eastern Russia to visit Magnitogorsk. Flying via Moscow, the journey from Japan to Magnitogorsk took approximately 22 hours, including airport waiting times. Due to the harsh environment which is below freezing point throughout the year, as well as jet lag, even making their way to the destination was by no means an easy trip. "This was our second trip to Magnitogorsk, as we had been there once before for Blue Sky PR. I was delighted to have the opportunity to meet them a second time," explains Mr. Furukawa.

In October 2016, Mr. Furukawa's efforts came to fruition and Magnitogorsk placed an order for oven doors. As an initial trial, six sets have been created, and are to be delivered then put to use at the actual Magnitogorsk site. It is expected that if there are no problems, the remaining oven doors will also be replaced with Blue Sky in sequential order. The completed oven doors are currently being transported to Magnitogorsk. The company remains focused. "Blue Sky is like our child. We want our child to shine, so once the doors arrive, we will take responsibility for providing full support, including installation and ongoing maintenance." The challenge for Mr. Furukawa and DHOWA TECHNOS continues.
